Hello!
Welcome back if you have been following some of my blogs! If not, you totally should 💋, it’s worth it!
To start off, I am an avid hiker who just loves to travel to new places. I cherish the earth, nature and anything the maker above has given us.
My blog today is going to be about a unique location in the North Carolina mountains. Specifically Balsam Grove North Carolina.
Some people don’t like super hard hikes, bugs or the outdoors in general. This place though? It won’t disappoint! Just trust me! Let your brain, eyes and senses dive into the beauty!
Sneak peek picture below 📌

So, the devils courthouse is one of my favorite places! The hike is only around .9 miles for a round trip. Not far at all! The path is partially paved so it makes for a easier walk then the rugged hikes I’ve done!

When I went to this location. There is a parking lot that you can look out and see the wonderful mountains that reside off the blue ridge parkway. If you want you can bring a snack and have a cute picnic! Everyone loves picnics right??
You walk down a path along the road from the parking lot towards the trail.
Then set out for the top!
The hike wasn’t bad at all for me. I took my amazing stepmom, as always! She did great with a bad knee (so that should give you some insight)!
The path isn’t like you would think something related to the devil would be. It was shaded, cool and full of nature. EVEN on a hot day, I always say “satans weather”. AKA to hot!
Walk along the path and see if you see any creatures of the forest, interesting flowers or trees like the one I was hanging from up there!
Once you get to the top it can be a little harder to the tip, but again someone with a bad knee took it fine!

When you get to the top?
It will take your breath away, not literally even though it is around roughly 5,720 feet in elevation!
This view though? INCREDIBLE! It is a 360 degree round view where you can see all of the beauty we have been given! you’re supposed to be able to see FOUR states from this point. How cool right?

You absoultly can sit on the rock wall, just be careful. You do this at your own risk, just like I did!
Me being me, I had to venture all around (which can be dangerous). I decided to journey down around the lower area below this wall. I also was looking for the secret cave people speak of.

As I stood on this edge looking down, where you could easily vanish if you fell. It made me think about how incredible this earth is. How amazing the structure is of the rocks, trees, ground and more. I just stand there in silence taking in all the smells, the wind and the view.
I then did try to find the “cave”. The legend says that this area of the mountain supposedly holds where “a devil holds court in a cave deep within the mountain”.
Spoiler, I didn’t find it. I know, I was sad too!
I don’t know if anyone has found a said “cave” in this area. If they did I sure would love to know all about it. It could just be a legend, but some legends are true even if they sound wild.
I mean who is the devil holding court for here? Himself? Who will ever know!

Whoever you are reading this, if you’re anything like me. You might enjoy just sitting here on the wall, breathing everything in.
I say, just go find the adventure. Breath it in.
